The continent of Africa was forged from a combination of geological activities and resulted in a high central plateau surrounded by a series of low lying coastal plains. The central plain remains largely stable, except for localized actions and the splitting of the continents crust, which gave birth to the Great Rift Valley that runs from the Middle East through to Malawi.
The Coastal plains, however, were subjected to enormous- environmental changes caused by a series of marine inundations which occurred over millennia. These periodic advances and withdrawals of the sea brought about huge sedimentation. It changed the courses of rivers, created lakes and heaped sand up in long dune ridges. The rivers that drained the inland plateau crossed the low-lying coastal plains in search of the sea and they too deposited vast quantities of sediment. These actions lead to the creation of the low-lying coastal plain that flanks Africa's Eastern seaboard, stretching from Somalia in the North, to Kwa-Zulu Natal in the South.

The end result of these activities is a spectacularly beautiful country,  pictorially portrayed in the following series of photographs all taken by the owners on the many safaris undertaken over the past years. Please enjoy!
